Dear IDPF
Members,
The
IDPF membership has elected to amend the IDPF
Bylaws to increase
the size of the Board of Directors by two seats
to nine total.
Voting closed
on Tuesday,
November 28th at 2400 eastern.
Eligibility for voting required that
members be in good standing, defined as being
up-to-date on member dues. There were 88
members eligible for voting at
the start of voting period and an
established quorum of 44
members. 52
members voted.
The
vote count is as follows:
Votes
FOR - 48
votes
Votes
AGAINST - 0 votes
Votes
ABSTAIN - 4
votes
As a result of
the Bylaw amendment, a self-nomination period is
now open for a special election to fill the two
new IDPF Board of Director positions.
All IDPF
members in good standing (current on membership
dues) may run for the Board. The nomination
period will begin now and end on Thursday,
December 21st at 2400 eastern.
Representatives of IDPF Members may
self-nominate by posting an announcement
to Nick Bogaty.
The announcements typically include
candidate statements on reasons for
running for the position, brief
biographies and general vision ideas for
the IDPF.
The nominations will be posted to
all IDPF members after
eligibility has been verified
and posted to the
IDPF website.
Being a Board member of the IDPF
requires a commitment in terms of
responsibility and time. The Board
currently meets twice
a month in a teleconference call
and usually meets once a year in a face
to face meeting. Time commitment costs
and expenses are not reimbursed. Board
members should be leaders in their
companies or organizations and,
importantly, should have a clear
understanding of the digital publishing/ebook
industries as well as related
technologies. Board members are closely
involved in the specification output
process so knowledge of adopted
technologies is essential.
After the nomination period, the
election for the Board of Director
positions will be held by remote vote
(email vote) beginning on Friday,
December 22nd and ending on Wednesday,
January 10th at 2400 eastern.
Best,
Nick Bogaty
