Dear
Fellow IDPF Members,
I herby
submit my nomination for election to the IDPF Board of Directors.
For 20
years I have run a typesetting company (www.river-valley.com)
built around free software and open specifications. We both use free
software for our services, and write and distribute free software for
others to use. It is natural for us to support ePub as the main format
for eBooks. Our typesetting service includes the 100% automatic
generation of PDF from complex XML with MathML. We are now adapting this
technology to eBooks by creating a software that will render the most
complex ePub, including MathML. Our aim is to have eBook software that
reflows mathematical content, and we believe the only way to achieve
this is to have MathML.
I see
my role within IDPF as promoting the correct tagging of complex material
like mathematics. In addition I would like to promote eBook readers that
can render and reformat complex material on the fly. I hope to be
elected to the board and to be effective in that role.
