Matt Shatz (Random House), Board Nomination Statement

Dear fellow IDPF members,

I submit my nomination for re-election to the IDPF Board of Directors.

In the time since I was first elected to the IDPF Board of Directors, eBooks and the EPUB standard have come a very long way. But the best is clearly yet to come. We are still at the early stages of what inevitably will be a major channel shift and significant product evolution in publishing. I believe the IDPF can play a major role in this transition, most especially with regards to the product evolution, i.e. expanding our standards work to support the variety of coming forms of electronic reading and products.

I have tried in my time on the Board to effectively and passionately represent the perspective of the large Trade publisher. I believe this perspective is an important piece of the unfolding electronic reading sphere and I would very much like to be able to continue to inform the IDPF’s work with my thinking and the Trade perspective. In addition, I believe I have demonstrated that I will to advance the organization’s profile and credibility where possible and when asked and I pledge to continue to support the organization however possible if re-elected. For these reasons I ask for your support as I seek re-nomination to the Board.

Sincerely,

Matt Shatz
