Dear IDPF Members,
I
would like to request your support for nomination to the Board. As a
pioneer in the field of Digital Publishing since 1995 with my
involvement in the successful start-up and development of Database
Directories Incorporated, I have long been both interested in and a
participant in the evolution of Digital and now Mobile Publishing. My
recent involvement has been the development of MPS Mobile and our Global
Reader service from an idea thrown out as a sales meeting two years ago
to a practical service that now can be received in over 160 countries on
80 mobile carriers and can be used on virtually any Internet enabled
hand set world wide.
I
have been an interested participant in many IDPF forums over the last
few years and a fervent supporter of the EPUB standard that the IDPF set
in motion last year. In June of this year Global Reader adopted the EPUB
standard as that to be used for our mobile distribution and delivery
platform. As Sales Director of MPS New Media in addition to being
Managing Director of MPS Mobile, I have been involved in integrating
EPUB into a number of our product offerings including conversion work as
well as our Digital Asset Repository Content Store.
In
the process we have discovered that while EPUB is an important step
forward for the publishing industry and community it also needs further
engagement in terms of producing a standard that will work efficiently,
consistently and effectively for all of its producers and users on the
many platforms manifesting themselves as the publishing industry moves
forward into the digital future.
I
feel the IDPF has a critical role to play in that future as a forum for
discussion and development and I want to be a part of those discussions
from both a practical ground level basis as to how e implement and
improve the standards we create as well as a from a strategic overview
of how our industry moves into this future.
For these and many other
reasons I hope you will support my nomination to the Board.
