I just did a forum search on TEI and found only my own reference to it.

If there were ever a good candidate for direct inclusion into the epub standard then TEI should be there at the top of the list.
For those unaware of this XML tag set, it is enormously complex, but it also allows for very clear and unambiguous mark-up of scholarly texts of all kinds as well as less academic novels, verse, plays etc.,.
It also has a virtue of allowing speech mark-up to be applied on top of the structural mark-up.
It is very tag-heavy, even in the lite version, there is no getting away from that, but this vice is also something of a virtue, and should not worry the casual reader any more than XHTML, or DTbook. |
