Mobile and Connected
Conference Brings Together Digital Book and Online Market Leaders
The stakes are high as
publishers, search engines and portable device manufacturers seek to
create the “iPod and iTunes for Books”
New York, NY (March 21,
2006) – As Google, Yahoo, MSN, and Amazon race to digitize the books of
the world, a similar race is underway by wireless device, reading
technology and publishing software companies. With billions of
publishing dollars at stake, which mobile devices, business models and
technologies will emerge to create the platform of choice for the
digital book generation? At the International Digital Publishing
Forum’s Connected & Mobile 2006 Conference on Wednesday, May
24th, 2006 in New York City, dozens of presenters and hands-on
demonstrations will seek to provide the formula for success.
The International
Digital Publishing Forum (www.idpf.org)
is hosting this one-day event in midtown Manhattan at the McGraw-Hill
Auditorium as part of its acclaimed educational events. In prior years,
the sold-out events have brought together leading publishing,
technology, business and government leaders to provide case studies and
technical briefings on recent developments in the digital publishing
markets.
“This year’s conference
will bring together in one auditorium Sony, Adobe, Amazon and dozens of
the digital publishing elite as the age of electronic paper and digital
access to the book quickly comes upon us,” stated Nicholas Bogaty,
Executive Director of the International Digital Publishing Forum. “The
leading publishing houses and technology companies will be demonstrating
how their digital delivery methods and business will capture the
exploding market of connected and mobile readers,” he added.
Initial sponsors of the
conference include Adobe Systems, Inc.; eReader.com; Green Point
Technology Services; LiveInk and OverDrive, Inc. Further details
