eBooks to Take Center Stage in Los Angeles
BookExpo 2003 to Showcase Advances in eReading
Technologies and Consumer Adoption
New York, NY á May 21, 2003 á óLights, Camera, eBooksÇ
will be the cue as the publishing and bookselling worlds converge in Los Angeles
from May 28th through June 1st for BookExpo America, the
industry´s largest North American event. But this year when the 30,000
attendees flock to see the exhibits they will first be presented with a unique
interactive center entitled óThe eBook ExperienceÇ.
BookExpo America in partnership with the Open eBook Forum (www.openebook.org)
will premier The eBook Experience, a unique learning environment
featuring hands-on displays of the latest
digital reading devices,
software, services and eBook titles in a coordinated series of
exhibits.
The special interactive center will be located prominently in the
Concourse Foyer and is free to all registered attendees.
óAuthors, publishers,
librarians, and booksellers will be able to sit down in the eReading Lounge and
experience eBooks and see how the industry has developed in just the past year,Ç
stated Nick Bogaty, Executive Director of the Open eBook Forum. óEveryone is
invited to test drive eBooks on Tablet PCs, Gemstar eBook Readers, and popular
Palm and Pocket PC PDA devices using the latest software technology from
Microsoft, Adobe, and Palm,Ç Bogaty added.
The
eBook Experience will include a demo room that will feature a
series of óBest PracticesÇ presentations in the areas of ePublishing, eBook
retailing and library use of eBooks. Tad Williams, best-selling fantasy writer,
will be in the Palm Digital Media booth on May 30th for a high-tech
eBook signing. Industry leaders will also be presenting demonstrations of the
latest eBook software products from Palm Digital Media, Microsoft Corporation
and Adobe Systems, Inc.
The eBook Experience and all presentation sessions are free of charge to
BookExpo America attendees. Sessions run Friday, May 30; Saturday, May 31; and
